The D4 is a great option for those who are looking for an upright vacuum that has lots of features. It comes with handy navigation and mapping tools, smart home integration and an easy-to-use app.
You can create the bot by plugging it into its base and connecting it to your home Wi Fi network. The Neato app will guide you through the initial configuration (linking the D4 to Wi-Fi, naming it the D4 etc.). When the D4 is fully charged, you’ll be able to begin a cleaning process.
Once you’ve got the D4 running, you can use the app to create an automatic schedule or manually begin any time you’d like. You can also control it using your voice via Google Home or Amazon Alexa. If you have an Apple Watch, you can even initiate cleaning by simply tapping the wrist.
In our tests in the lab this model was able to clean well on carpeted and hard flooring and picked up 91.3 percent of debris in serpentine paths. It’s not as efficient in cleaning corners and edges as higher-end models. The D4’s side sensors keep it around 1.5 inches away from walls. It also lacks the side-sweeping brush on all but cheapest robotic cleaners. The raised turret means it isn’t able to be placed under furniture with low clearance. It can also support virtual No-Go Lines, so you can draw red lines on your floor plan and instruct the D4 to stay away from the area. The battery life of 75 minutes is also fairly average. This is a small price to pay for the convenience of this model.

3. iRobot Roomba 985

It’s also iRobot’s most powerful vacuum. It is able to take out messes that have deeper debris or more pet hairs unlike other mid-range models, like the Roomba 960. This is due to the cleaner’s wider counter-rotating brushes and a stronger motor that can pull more suction power.
The Roomba 995 is iRobot’s least expensive vacuum that comes with recharge and Lidar Robot Vacuum Cleaner resume. However it isn’t equipped with the auto-empty feature that the I6+ or I7 offer. It’s not equipped with iAdapt navigation 2.0 and the camera utilized by the I7 to locate objects and avoid obstructions. It can’t access features like in-app containment or save maps.
